James Gregory III wasn’t always homeless. His early, happier years were spent in an Irish neighborhood with his Latino single mother Maria and the two thrived with the support of the Hennessey family. As Maria’s choices lead to a series of ill-fated circumstances, the two find themselves living with Maria’s parents in their tiny apartment. Depression and drugs take hold of the family and Jimmy carries his burdens silently, until one day he can carry them no more. For This Little Time speaks to social issues of our time; homelessness, drug addiction, mental illness, immigration and class structures, and the challenges of the American dream. Ultimately it is about how we deal with the ups and downs of real life, and how events and the people close to us influence our thinking and our futures.

Extinction was just the beginning... Clover Martinez has always been a survivor, which is the reason she isn't among the dead when aliens invade and destroy Earth as she knows it. Clover is convinced she's the only one left until she hears a voice on the radio urging her to go to the former Area 51. When she arrives, she's greeted by a band of misfits who call themselves The Last Teenagers on Earth. Only they aren't the ragtag group of heroes Clover was expecting. The seven strangers seem more interested in pretending the world didn't end than fighting back, and Clover starts to wonder if she was better off alone. But when she finds a hidden spaceship within the walls of the compound, she doesn't know what to believe...or who to trust. Praise for The Last 8: "A sci-fi romp."—Kirkus "The Walking Dead meets Alien...teens will want to follow Clover on her next adventure!"— Zoraida Córdova, author of the Brooklyn Brujas series

Rigoberto González, author of the critically acclaimed memoir Butterfly Boy: Memories of a Chicano Mariposa, takes a second piercing look at his past through a startling new lens: hunger. The need for sustenance originating in childhood poverty, the adolescent emotional need for solace and comfort, the adult desire for a larger world, another lover, a different body—all are explored by González in a series of heartbreaking and poetic vignettes. Each vignette is a defining moment of self-awareness, every moment an important step in a lifelong journey toward clarity, knowledge, and the nourishment that comes in various forms—even "the smallest biggest joys" help piece together a complex portrait of a gay man of color who at last defines himself by what he learns, not by what he yearns for. Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Literary Achievement, Publishing Triangle “Told in a series of revealing vignettes and poems, González’s Autobiography of my Hungers turns moments of need and want into revelations of truth and self-awareness, creating the portrait of an artist that is complex if not entirely complete.”—El Paso Times “Through his provocative vignettes, González communicates a lifetime of struggle for affirmation and self-acceptance.”—Make/Shift

During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the administration of President Franklin Roosevelt instituted a Federal Writers Project as part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA). Many People Participated in compiling a series of state-by-state guides to the country. Among the New Mexico Project workers were two women interviewers. Lou Sage Batchen and Annette Hesch Thorp, who placed particular emphasis upon gathering Hispanic women's stories, or cuentos. Rebolledo and Marques have combed through archhives to recover these invaluable first-hand accounts.

From the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, rates of life expectancy at birth increased throughout the world. In developed countries long life is almost a certainty, and very long life increasingly probable. Nutrition has been a key determinant of these gains in health and it now takes on a special importance for the well-being of elderly people who are surviving in greater and greater numbers. This authoritative report provides information on all aspects of nutrition in the elderly. It is sponsored by the World Health Organization and will be useful to physicians, nutritionists, medical students, and those involved in a variety of other health sciences.

A mesmerizing novel you always seek yet seldom find. Marlo Clemente is confronted with continuous turmoil at home. His father's boisterous views of women haunt him, as he is told that all women are evil-wanting only the material and causing all men "the worst of pains." This has dire consequences for young Marlo as he matures and struggles with loving his mother and yet facing his father's twisted representation of a world full of vixen dominance. Marlo looks to his extraordinary artistic talent and two best friends for solace from everyday home life. But one of his friends (Danny) becomes romantically involved with a young girl who ends up crushing Danny's heart. This only reinforces what his father has long since warned. Confusion sets in further when Marlo meets Desiree Castillo, a girl unlike others. For she too sees the same magic in Marlo's "sandcastle dreams" and even tells a story of the first sandcastle which (legend has it) was built long ago, near the Yucatan Peninsula. Marlo struggles to keep his dream of art school alive while still trying to find the long-lost relationship that has evaded him and his mother. He too comes to terms with his deep attraction towards Desiree only to eventually meet her "twin" cousin, Divina. A two-sided world Marlo encounters, only to wonder whether his tideless dreams will ever come to pass.
